I Am Platform

I have to be honest. I was not always the feminist I am today. I used to shy away from the word. I knew that being a feminist didn't mean I had to grow out my armpit hair, abondon my feminine ways and reject chivalrous gestures, but feared that claiming my true identity would give my peers that idea. I was a closet feminist hiding as a self-proclaimed humanist.
With the encouragement of the young women I surround myself with, and especially the women of platform, I have embraced the terminology. I whole heartedly believe that women deserve the same rights as men and the extra protection needed for the body of a woman.
I am excited to embark on this journey with my peers and celebrate women across the country. We have a responsibility as women to uplift and support each other. I am Platform because I beleive in the power of women and the rights needed to protect us.
