I Am Platform

I believe in every woman’s voice. I believe women can achieve just as much, if not more, than men. I believe there should be no gender roles. All women should be empowered to speak their mind, and advocate for the change they wish to see in the world. Women have the power to achieve as much as they wish, but so few are empowered to actually do so. Glass ceilings, wage disparity, and inequalities in law and politics are unfortunately commonplace. Girls are raised into society’s predefined constructs of what they should do, and negative evaluations of those women who dare break these constructs are all too commonplace. This is not defined to one country or place. Women across societies are viewed as less, yet they have the potential to be so much more. Girls and women need more role models who are empowered to speak, free of negative stereotypes and mocking. Women have been speaking more and entering counter stereotypic roles, but they are still met with resistance. To overcome this, women in positions of power must be normalized and their voices must be commonplace in the arena of ideas. The women that enter these roles and act as role models should be well known and just as respected as the men that typically hold these roles. Opportunities for women to thrive must become more commonplace and evolve into basic rights for all women. The empowerment of women cannot be defined to one geographical corner of the world, these are changes that must happen everywhere to truly eliminate the pervasive stereotypes that have managed to thrive into the 21st century. One woman without a voice makes all women voiceless.
